Courtney Capehart – Tourism & Hospitality Management
Class of 2014
“The University of Florida hosts one of the largest student populations in the nation. To satisfy the diverse student body on campus, a plethora of majors are offered. I found the College of Health and Human Performance and it has served as my home away from home ever since.
I decided to pursue a Recreation, Parks and Tourism major with a specialization in Tourism and Hospitality Management. This major has allowed me to hone my people skills as well as introduce me to a new set of skills that are necessary for the hospitality and tourism industry. One of my favorite parts about the curriculum offered for this major is the hands-on experience that is embedded in the program. I have not only been able to learn necessary skills such as revenue management and recreational law, but I have also had the opportunity to exercise these abilities in the real world. With help and guidance from the wonderful faculty and staff in the RPT major, I have had the opportunity to work with companies such as Hilton Worldwide and Cisco Systems. The skills I have learned throughout my time in this program at the University of Florida have helped me make a smooth transition from college to the workforce.”
