“The University of Florida’s Department of Tourism, Recreation, and Sports Management is the premier choice for students pursuing a career in the travel and tourism industry. The rigorous curriculum complemented with the support and guidance of the professors and academic professionals sets the highest standard for tourism and hospitality programs offered worldwide. This program provides a broad foundation in business fundamentals while developing specialized expertise in tourism and hospitality management. The unique benefits of this program include the intimate student to faculty ratio, enriching global study abroad opportunities, and academically supported internships that will jump start your career. Through the program, I have gained an advanced skill set which top employers demand and expect. My foundation of knowledge acquired has allowed me to become a leading competitor amongst emerging young professionals in today’s work force.
My studies in the Tourism and Hospitality program at the University of Florida have opened avenues within the travel and tourism industry including internships at a premier Four Star resort in the Rocky Mountains and another at a Florida based airline. My academically supported internship with the Palm Beach County Tourism Development Council has provided exposure to interagency cooperation and multiple aspects of tourism within Palm Beach County. The focus of my internship is understanding the planning, research, and development involved in marketing, attracting, and retaining domestic and international commercial air service to the Palm Beaches. My time at the internship has been a rewarding and academically challenging experience where I am able to interact, collaborate, and attain knowledge from upper management and divisional leaders in Palm Beach County and abroad.”
