Mark Pruitt – Sport Management

Class of 2015

My experience in the Health and Human Performance Program was one I will never forget. In this program, I was taught by the best sport management professors in the country and made lifelong friends in the process. The classes were taught in a real world format where we learned how to run and operate multiple sports facilities and how to manage them successfully. UF helped prepare me for the internship by showing me how to write a resume, cover letter, and send in the best possible application. These are lessons I will carry with me for the rest of my career.

Internship site: D.C. United

With DC United, I was responsible for everything equipment related whether it was folding clean laundry or setting up and breaking down the locker room. I was involved with everyone from the head coach down to operations interns. Players, coaches, and staff all worked together each day to get the team ready for victory. The team made it to the eastern conference semi-finals before being eliminated by their biggest rival, the New York Red Bulls. I plan to apply for other MLS teams around the country along with many NFL teams. It is my goal to run an organization one day as team president and I know all I need is a foot in the door. I will apply for any open positions and do the best I can in any position I am offered.
